I put access holes over all four table mounting screws, making it easier to adjust the table for level. I also switched to 1" MDF for the table and auxiliary table.

I've used it to cut brass ( made a small branding iron) and I would not recommend using it for brass.
I have not used is on aluminum and can not make a recommendation. What are you planning to make? Are you intending to hog out a lot of metal, or do light engraving on a name plate?

I agree that using the mouse for an emergency stop is almost useless. However, it can be entertaining for others to watch as you fumble around in a panic trying to use this method. What I did was to get one of those router table switches with the big red stop paddle and plug my power strip into it. ...

These are sample carvings I made on the dust booth legs of my Shark work table. The roman coin was scanned using the 3D probe. The face and Jeep were from the Sketchup 3D warehouse.
