Re: Control version 2.0

Well, Jeb2cav, the newest Rockler catalog, seems to imply that Shark HD 2.0 comes with something more that Control Panel 1.5. Page seven, right column. Features enhanced electronics for smoother movement, more power and up to 50% more speed to the motors. It also ushers in Controller 2.0 software , ...

Re: Shark HD 2.0 - uncommanded ramp through workpiece :(

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I have successfully completed the project at hand. The notable changes were: a) limit the cut depth to 1/16" per pass, b) making sure that the (new) collet was completely tight onto the router bit c) installing some sandpaper shims around the body of the PC 890 ...

Re: Shark HD 2.0 - uncommanded ramp through workpiece :(

Thanks for the thoughts, folks. Took another try today with a NEW spiral upcut bit, NEW collet, and lowered feed rate. Oh, and a 3/4" MDF spoils board. The spoils board and workpiece were bonded with double-sided tape, at the four corners and one dot in the center, and the stack was clamped down at ...

Re: Shark HD 2.0 - uncommanded ramp through workpiece :(

Thanks, Milo. For what it's worth, the instance in the photo "crash_earlier" happened while the boot was off. I -was- doing dust collection by following the router along with the ShopVac hose. A nights sleep left me with a new idea as for possible cause: too slow on the RPM, too fast on the feed rat...

Shark HD 2.0 - uncommanded ramp through workpiece :(

I had a tool crash today while milling a pocket in 3/4" baltic birch. 1/4" carbide spiral upcut bit, feed rate 25 IPM, router speed at midrange. (14,000 rpm?) The file was running smooth and steady for at least 5 minutes beforehand. I was running under the dust boot, so I had no visual cues before t...

Re: Altering X and Y orientation

However, the CTRL+E 787 is a better way to do this if you can us it to change the value of the setting you want. Not sure why NWA did not offer this to you as a solution, or come up with an app that just changes the direction of the motor for you. I am sure others would like this as well. THANK YOU...

Re: Altering X and Y orientation

If you are electrically inclined, you can reverse the direction of a 4 wire stepper by reversing 2 of the 4 wires, they must be on the same phase. This is best done at the motor end in that the shark cables I have seen connect each of the 4 wires to a pair of thinner wires in the longer cable sectio...

Re: Altering X and Y orientation

I'm not sure this trick will work, but once the control panel is open, press CTRL+E, then enter 787. In the window that pops up: Change the Y Step value to a positive if it is a negative, or a negative if it is a positive, then save. Now see if the Y jogs the direction you want it to in the Control...

Re: Altering X and Y orientation

P.S. I have done some more searching on this topic, and I see that the solution of "rotating the gantry" seems to be the only solution offered so far. Is this STILL the case? It seems very hard to imagine that Next Wave has not addressed this issue in the last year or two. Every other controller sys...

Altering X and Y orientation

Sorry if this question has been asked before.... Out of the box, Is ths machne set up to cut LONG signs? Say, 12" high and 50" wide? I am setting up a new CNC Shark HD2.0 machine, it appears that the X axis is executed by the side-to-side stepper on the gantry, and the Y axis is executed by the step...
