A method I have used for a long time when using double sided tape, is to "sandwich" the double sided tape between packing tape. I apply packing tape to both the workpiece and the table then apply double sided tape to the packing tape on the workpiece and bring both together. When the job is complete...

Just another thought on this router clamp issue.
Would it be possible / feasible to incorporate small "jacking" grub screws between the router clamp and the Z platform to aid in aligning the router to be perpendicular to the table?

That should not happen.
Can you post a wiring diagram of how you wired the circuit.
Maybe some "bright" forum members can help out.
