Re: Router mounting bracket cracked, please help!
I bought and installed the Dixie Billet router clamp. The service was great and I was impressed with the very high quality. I used the McBuster recommended mod and method (as it makes sense) and certainly feel it's more secure.

Re: setting X0 and Y0
Although a little pricey... I got a laser center/edge finder about a year ago and use it all the time. It goes into the router like a bit (don't turn on the router). It projects a laser dot straight down the center line of the router chuck making it easy to position the router center line anywhere y...

Re: Making Progress
My guess... I used what I thought was an arrangement that matched their diagram. (but I didn't) Along the x-axis with the headstock near x=0 (on the left) and was surprised it came out reversed. Running the same file with the mirror image box checked came out correct. I don't find this a problem, ju...

Re: Question about Preference Updates
Valid question. After running a 1/2" carbide cutter into the top of the chuck (where I tap off) I expected it would move to the offset automatically before starting a tool path, but it didn't. Therefore, I have made it a habit of clicking on "Move to Offset" before running a tool path. I consider my...

Nick
I am also a pen turner and therefore interested in your method. Did drill and install the brass tube before using the CNC? What bit did you use, etc.

Making Progress
Seems to be working... I have it set up along the X axis Left to Right. Using V-Carve Pro 8 I made a rounding tool path and a V-Carve lettering tool path and included a few circles with the vbit on a profile tool path. My first attempt came out with reversed lettering which surprised me as I thought...

Re: Rounding Continued - this is one buggy Azz program
I agree with the 1.75 if you tap off on the chuck body and .625 if you tap off on the flat top of the tail stock. These are the vertical distances from the tap off point to the work center line or spin axis. Also all tap off's need to be directly above the work/spin axis in order to get proper X,Y, ...

"It would have been great that instead of a 1/2" straight hole through the headstock they would have used a #1 or #2 morse taper." (studio-n) Oh, tell me it isn't true!!!
