Re: Having an issue with a plaque on Piranha

I have a similar problem with my Piranha. When working fine tool paths, which are at 45 degrees, it can run off along the x-axis to the center of the piece. This can spoil a piece that takes 4 hours to mill. It looks like a software problem to me. I am using Cut3D. The Cut3D forum has been shut down...

Re: X-axis shift on CNC Piranha

Joy tonight. I added a 24 inch tie-wrap to the cable to the z-motor so that it would form a nice even loop that cannot get caught in the carriage when the x is fully to the left. This worked well. To check it out I ran the carriage over the complete work area in both x and y. I found definite areas ...

X-axis shift on CNC Piranha

I am using a CNC Piranha and 3DCut software. I am having a persistent problem with shifting of the Home location in the x-axis shifting during milling. The shift can occur during Rough or Finish milling and is typically 1.5 inches in the –x direction. I ran a test with one of the sample files, a bas...

Re: LEDs

I wrote up construction notes for using LED on woodworking projects at:

http://woodwaredesigns.com/extra/LEDWood.html

I now need your input:

1. Is this enough information?
2. is the presentation attractive?

I wait to hear from you.

Enjoy,

Re: LEDs

You asked for it; you got it. I have written up what I know about using LED's in wood projects at: "LED's for Craft Projects" http://woodwaredesigns.com/extra/LEDWood.html Now I need your input: 1. Is this enough information? 2. Is this more than you ever wanted to know? 3. What is missing? Let me h...

Re: LEDs

The question right now is weather you want to start with piece parts or buy a set of Christmas lights for $20.00. With the Christmas lights you get a power supply, a controller, and four strings of about 10 LED's. It is not difficult to extend the wiring so you can place the strings where you need t...

Re: Plans for add-ons for the CNC Piranha

I have now completed the drawings and construction notes for all four add-ons for the CNC Piranha. This includes (1) table extension, (2) wooden clamps, (3) foam box, and (4) Router Mount. The URLS are given above. The Router Mount add-on now has the Cut3D files for a router mount for a Makita route...

Re: LEDs

Long ago now, when LED's first got hot around 1976, I used them to light model sailing ships. Red and green for running lights and yellow-green for oil lighting in cabins and benical. If this is the type of custom lighting you are interested in I can write up a small how-to description for my Web pa...

Re: Plans for add-ons for the CNC Piranha

The weather being incumbent, I was able to finish writing the draft of a Web page on shop-built add-ons:

Woodware Designs / Freebie / “Shop-Build Add-ons for the CNC Piranha”
http://woodwaredesigns.com/freebie/CNCAddOn.html

I would appreciate any input from this group.

Thanks,

Plans for add-ons for the CNC Piranha

The table on the CNC Piranha is clearly too small. The makers have thoughtfully provided two holes in the front panel clearly designed for T-Bolts. Yesterday I drew up plans for a wooden table extension and ordered a piece of Universal T-Track. It will be a few weeks before I can build this table ex...
