Re: Touch Probe

In using my probe to trace and store a chair seat contour I experience the following problem (it occurs at all speeds and all settings): the probe bends (flexes) when it tries to rise along a sharp curve. This results in a distorted scan (with bad edges)...As I find this forum kind of hard to naviga...

Re: Underpowered Router

Looked at new Mako system.
Would have to be a lot more than "50% faster" to convince me !
This is a VERY underpowered system for chair seats.
Expect to stick with outsourcing and eventually a much stronger system.
Thanks.

Re: Underpowered Router

This is a new Shark.
The tiny router lasts one and a half seats !
Is there another mount system and router to fit (link to Mako router ??)

Underpowered Router

We have burned out two of the puny Bosch routers (carving chair seats) even at small steps and slow rate !!!

We are now farming out our cnc work !!!

Anyone do a retrofit to a bigger router ???

Re: shark versus shopbot

Shopbot makes it clear that they can ship a unit with a probe that eliminates the need for fiddling around with software. Their (desktop unit) customers do a 3D probe, and wind up with a file that will then run the machine to make cnc carvings of the probed item. Their literature and presentation (w...

One Job Only

I am interested in purchasing a shark that would be dedicated to making only a single chair seat (every couple of days.) I have no interest in the software or other uses for the machine. Can someone provide me with a disk/price for scanning or probing my seat and helping me set up the system in a co...

Re: Probe

Ed:

Haven't bought unit yet. Intending to dedicate to my chair seats when I am confident it will do the job.
Thanks.

Re: Probe

Thank you Ed:

I am planning on dedicating it solely to carving a chair seat for a chair I make. I don't care of the run takes a long time. Path is 18 x 18 (max) and z=1" max.
