Re: International purchasing

Hi Andy,

I forget on which forum I read it, but one Aussie who ran into problems with the controller on a Shark was referred to the official agent/importer for OZ. But there is no dealer/importer list on the Next Wave site, I guess Tim will have the answer.

Re: Importing DXF to V Carve

Hi Andy,

Both CADrail and V Carve allow setting the units to metric, if both are set to the proper units things should be OK. For now I'll just scale up the CADrail drawing by 25.4 and then export.

Re: parameters for cutting thin metal

Reference table for solid carbide endmill bits can be found here . Reaching back into my "former life" I'd recommend a single lip cutter, using that will require the speed range that is available on the Colt. First source when using Google http://www.harveytool.com/products/index.php?page_function=s...

Re: Question on Mach3

Perhaps this will help. It wouldn't hurt to have a look at the system requirements to see if your 'puter hardware will fit.

Re: Question on project size & 4th Axis

Hi there, 1. V Carve 6 has a tiling function which allows that. 2. One of the general 4th axis application is adding rotation to either the workpiece ( "turntable" in horizontal or vertical position) or on larger machine tools to the Z-axis which can tilt left or right within a certain limitation. F...

Designing in 3D CAD

Greetings, I posed the question over on the Vectric Cut3D forum Greetings, Looking at some of our parts (in planning ) it would appear that a 3D CAD program is in order. Since this is a trial balloon I was looking for low cost/relatively easy learning curve. Anyone using Alibre Design PE for that pu...

Re: Pro Plus Touch Probe Insights

Joe,

I just started getting my feet wet with 3D CAD software (the very tip of my big toe only  ), I'm certainly interested to read what you find regarding the probe. For me that would be the other alternative, probably easier on the old noggin, too, since I've avoided 3D so far.

Re: parameters for cutting thin metal

Hi Ken, I guess the first question is "what kind of metal?", but my hunch is nothing more substantial than aluminium, brass and copper. As for as speeds, feeds and depth of cut is concerned I would think the normal values apply, which means the minimum speed of the router is certainly on the high si...

Re: Life of Bosch Router

Hi Dwayne,

I was looking for that dust collection attachment for the 611 - to get some more ideas - and couldn't find a reference number. Any hints, links? Thanks!

Re: Pro Plus Touch Probe Insights

Hi Joe,

Just my curiosity, what do you intend to use it most for? Any specifics yet as far as accuracy is concerned? What would interest me most is the reversing error on the Z axis when scanning a lying half cylinder. Or for that matter the reversing error on 2D circle.
