If you want a better and stronger Machine, You should look at a Legacy made in the USA.
They make a model called the explorer with All steel welded frame etc. also you get a better post processor Mach 3.
It is worth a look.

Re: Cut 3-d software question
I have a Question for you. Why are you doing a roughing cut and then a finish cut? A roughing cut will take from 1/3 to 1/2 the time of a finish cut. And the finish cut time will not be less because you did a roughing cut. I use a 0.125 tapered ballnose cutter with 10% stepover. I go from blank boar...

Re: Not connecting to Controller
I understand your frustration. From what you describe the problem is in the New Wave software. I have talked to other people who have had trouble with support from New Wave. You might see if the store or company you bought the machine from can bring enough pressure to bear on New Wave for them to su...

Re: Feeds and speeds for very small Router bits
SOME FURTHER THOUGHTS ON RELIEF CARVING. The configuration of the project you are carving has a lot to do with how you set up and run your program. I do a lot of relief carving on cabinet doors. The usual configuration is a some animal or flowers placed in a recessed dish. I use Aspire software so I...

Re: Feeds and speeds for very small Router bits
Cutting wood with small bits is a balancing act. If your machine travel is to slow the bit will burn the wood and if it is too fast your cut will not be clean and you risk breaking the bit. There are chip loading charts such as found here. http://robbjack.com/technical/formulas. these are designed m...

Re: making words curve..lol
Here it is step by step. In VCARVE Pro Draw the curve you want. Go to the text Icon, click on it and type the words you want in the font you want. Click on Apply. The text will be put in the window with the curve. In the Drawing Window Go to the text line. On the right end is an ark with ABC above i...

Re: Pocket paths problems
PS. Look at the coupling and drive shaft configurations. Some depend solely on the friction generated by the set screws. The better units will have a flat spot milled on both shafts which is much more secure and less prone to slippage.

Re: Pocket paths problems
Has your machine done this before or is this the first time? Speed could still be a factor but I doubt it. Based on the two different results on the 1 inch pockets. Have you checked the connections between the drive motors and the drive screws. If there is any slippage there, It could cause the irre...

Re: Pocket paths problems
As to speed, I don't have a Shark machine. You say your feed rate was 45% and 70% of FPO. I don't know what FPO is. If you will look at the tool selection screen you will see that the feed rate is 100 inches per minute for the 0.25 end mill. In Vcarve pro the program picks up the feed rate from that...

Re: Strange depth of cut behavior with V2.01
One of the prices you sometimes pay for a lighter less expensive machine is accuracy. I run a Legacy Artesian 24 X 72 inch machine with a 5 HP industrial power head. I notice some of what you are experiencing. The difference is my error is 0.0002 to 0.0003. What you see is caused primarily by two th...
