Re: Shark in Booth 8628 at AWFS 2013
Isn't it amazing? They go through all the trouble of replacing flat aluminium with checker plate and making an aluminium cradle for the router and yet, they STILL use a plastic gantry and a plastic router holder!!!! Will they EVER learn to listen to the customers? The plastic router bracket is the w...

Re: A sign for our doctor
Hi Keith The timber is a native Australian tropical species, a kind of Sheoak. Very dense, hard but not brittle. Nice to cut with no sanding needed. Just for some trivia. Our oaks are evergreen with needles instead of leaves. I have some pictures on my Balckberry Tablet, just have to figure how to g...

A sign for our doctor
Our doctor has given us some timber from his property with more to come so I thought I would make him a sign for his desk

Re: Loss of Z axis
I took the whole thing apart again.
The plastic bottom of the cradle was starting to move (rock), causing the screw and rods to be slightly askew, so I replaced it with a20mm (3/4") aluminium one.
Haven't had any problems since, fingers crossed.
It was cutting all day yesterday without any problems.

Re: Large/Long tap file
I know you can put a Dwell command into the file but I have to go searching to find the instructions.

Re: Garden Hod
I think it is because people use a smartphone or a tablet where it turns direction automatically, then when the picture is sent it is turned around to normal.

Re: My first coloured litho
Hi Jim I have only been able to get adhesive printable film for a laser printer, thinking Avery clear labels, full size, might work but I have not been able to lay my hands on any. The laser print has to be handles carefully as it peels off very easily. It must also be printed in mirror to fit the c...

Re: Loss of Z axis
I tried to swap the cables and it made no difference. I have changed the original bearings with new open linear bearings (or whatever they are called  ) Strange thing is that despite the added weight, there is no problem going up but it stops halfway down when gravity should assist the movemen...

My first coloured litho
Cut 5 mm deep in 10mm translucent Opal. The mark in the corner happened when the Z axis went berserk and ploughed into the material. Since she is no longer with us, I wanted the picture to look slightly fuzzy, so I smudged the carving with Old Gold acrylic paint. Background is printed mirror image o...
