Re: Wood clock plans suggestions
I have NOT tried Bryan Law's yet. but I have been thinking about the Epicyclic gear drive clock for several months. Maybe the smart thing to do is to try one of the cheaper designs to see how documented it is. Then go to the more elaborate. The other side is that we both have made several clocks and...

Re: Wood clock plans suggestions
Kayvon, Another clock designer is Bryan Law from the UK. He uses several escapements and has 22 clock designs. http://www.woodenclocks.co.uk/ He has an Epicyclic gear drive clock that interests me. A couple of his clocks have odd shaped gears that sink with other odd shaped gears. When I was making ...

Re: Rental rate for using a CNC Shark?
The fair value would be what you two agree to. However, there are weare and tear issues to consider. Are you are supplying the router bits, spoil board...? I suppose you are cleaning and keep adjustments correct. The router has bearings that will require replacing after a while. Keep detailed record...

Re: spoiler board?
A couple of things that are important. When bolting down your spoil board(s), use nylon bolts, just in case an error in the Z axis causes the router bit to travel across a bolt head. Nylon will save your more expensive router bit. Also, I frequently use a thin 1/8 ply-board as a spoil board on top o...

Re: Table leveling
You don't have to use the aluminum top at all and just replace it with your own design spoil board. I've heard of guys spending more time on their spoil boards than one any one project. Remember, it is a SPOIL board to be discarded sooner than later. Here is a picture search of CNC spoil boards that...

Re: Tramming Shark
To get it right in all 360 degrees, you should use a tool that attaches to your spindle / router that will measure just how much difference you have from front to back. Something that you know is square with the spindle. Here is just one elaborate solution --> https://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic....

Re: HD5 or HD4
as the new technology and abilities increase, the support for the old stuff decreases. I have a much older shark that works for me just fine but I can not expect nor do I receive any support from NWA. Go with the newer HD5 for future support reasons. About bed length; just how large a bed will work ...
