Re: 4th axis rotary attatchment
I use Mach3 on my shark and replaced my control box, so my system is not standard. However, if you use a standard shark stepper motor, I would imagine it should plug in to either a regular axis port or the 4th axis port if you have one. If you used the 4th axis port, I would also suspect that you wo...

Re: 4th axis rotary attatchment
That looks like the wood lathe that was originally supposed to be a part of the shark 4th axis system, but never materialized as a product. I bought one of these lathes when Tim suggested we buy them from Rockler "while on sale", as the 4th axis would use it. When that was delayed year after year, I...

Hello
The files were developed in inches, not mm. That is most likely the issue.
Kindest regards
Bob

Re: Upward Migrating Z-axis During Carving
It almost sounds like your "bam" moment might have been when(if) the router got pushed up in its plastic mount and no longer allowed a bit to reach down deep enough. As soon as the Z hits bottom, the z is changed by the distance below the actual hard stop where your program wanted it to go. The cont...

Re: new controller
I'm not sure what your particular situation is. If you have the spindle sold by NWA, I believe they were supposed to provide an on off methodology. Not sure where that effort is. Perhaps owners of the spindle kit can update this. The shark controller has on off support for a router, which can be use...

Re: Upward Migrating Z-axis During Carving
can you run the job in air (no wood to cut) and still have the same issue? if its still bad, can you run it at half speed and still have the same issue? does the issue seem to get worse as the control box warms up? (heat related) what plunge speeds are you using? do you do straight down plunges with...

Re: Machine losing its place in all three axes
since NWA had both the motors and the controller at the same time, they should stand by the product if it failed first time out. Hopefully there is some kind of warranty period on replacement controllers. The box can get hot as it has no active cooling, (but that's another issue). Personally, I woul...

Re: Machine losing its place in all three axes
Has the replacement controller worked well before, and this problem is just starting, or has the problem come along with the new controller? Did NWA give you any indication of what went wrong with your old controller? I am wondering if you may have some of the wiring to the motors shorting out inter...

Re: New Piranha Cutting Issues
are those problem, areas at the place where the router plunges down into the material? If so you can minimize the "wobble on plunging" if you use lead-in in ramps in your tool paths. The sharks can have a good deal of play in them, and straight down plunges can exacerbate the weaknesses of the machi...
