Re: Bit for 3D finish pass?
You could use a 1/16" tapered ball nose or a 1/32".

Re: Cutting 45%
A 1/2" dia 90 degree V-bit should cut to 3/4". Otherwise, you will just need to get a 3/4" 90 degree V-bit.
1/4" or 1/2" shank, depending on your collet size.

Re: Cutting 45%
Are you meaning you want a 45 degree cut and not 45% ?
If so, you could use a 90 degree V-bit to get a 45 on each side of the cut.
To do that, you will need a 90 degree V-bit that can cut to 3/4" depth.

Re: Random Machining Grooves
If I am not mistaken, the proper post processor is Arch inches and not contour.
I would try that on a piece of scrap to see if that is the problem.

Re: New to CNC world
You don't convert a dxf file! You just bring it into Vcarve and work with it there.
I usually just drag it from the desktop into my project.

Re: water cooled spindle
A 3 h.p. Spindle that will take 1/2" collets is 80mm in dia. You would probably need a new mount to hold it. Also the weight is more than the one you have.
You would also need a different VFD to run the larger sipndle.

Re: G12 code ignored by shark hd4
If you are using V-carve, you could use a 1/8" bit and in V-carve make a circle of .251 and do a pocket cut. You should wind up with a slightly larger hole than 1/4". If .251 isn't large enough just make a few practice cuts to get the hole size you need. There should be no need to mess with any gcode.

Al said that when he got the emails from the forum members, he blocked that person from the site forever. The last time the junk was entered was Nov 30th. He said he hasn't been looking at the site every day, which is why there are more than 10 pages of crap. He is now trying to figure out how to de...

Re: Moderators
I just got off the phone with AL. He has blocked him from the site and is now trying to figure out how to remove the first 10 pages of advertising from the site.
Should be corrected in the next day or so.
