You should know that probe work can be challenging. The point cloud created may take long hours to develop and to clean up and convert to a STL file. It is not really a scan and cut operation. I would suggest you drop in on some other forums and search scan, probe operations and get a broader feel f...

The thing that would bother me about cutting stone would be the fine sand dust in the bearings and slides and router motor. Maybe not, dust is one thing but that kind of grit in the works would just keep me up at nite.

At the Makers Fair in San Fran, several cncs were being used to run extruders. They bolt them on the side of the CNC router head and us an offset to run the part. Most notable was Shopbot which had one running.

Deep cuts like you describe are challenging and difficult. Longer bits tend to flex or break (if you can find them). Most of us doing that kind of work usually slice the model and do it in to parts. Can't answer the probe issue. you might want to try a bit extender. But be careful You can break the ...
