Re: Bits for carving in foamed pvc(palight)

I carve Pink Foam insulation board all the time using regular bits with good results, just be sure they are sharp. Four flutes should give you a better finish as they take of less material per cut then 2 fluted bits at the same feed rate.

I've been running this spindle for sometime and it's a lot better than a router. It's quieter, better speed control, you can spin it in both directions (point of order he...

Re: Next Wave Automation Commemorative Chest

Bob; (not the other Bob, but the other other Bob) Forth axis wrapping of this project really won't work. The Tail Fin and Teeth will not carve properly. If you'd like to try just export the file as and STL (under the model tab), Select Close with inverted fron from in the Back face Triangulation, th...

Re: Why does the spindle bounce?

Feed speed too fast, trying to take too deep of a cut, or bits would be my first checks.

your router mount is tilted. Try adjusting it or adding shims to get it parallel to the table.

Re: Processor for 3d printing

The difficulty you're going to face it the controller for the HD does not have enough outputs and. You have X, Y, and Z. You will need two more, one for the hot end and another to control the temperature if you have the rotary attachment you can use that to run the extruder. The last part is that if...

Re: musclechuck

Check for debris in the chuck around the tightening screw and slot. I had one of these years ago and had unacceptable results from it. I switch to a collet system from PresiceBits, better hold, less runout and I get a better variety of bit shank sizes.. http://www.precisebits.com/gateways/ColletsNut...

Re: Spindle options

I've got this one installed on my Shark; https://smile.amazon.com/Japanese-Matching-Variable-Frequency-Inverter/dp/B010FIQ80M/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1500152017&sr=1-3&keywords=spindle+motor+4+bearing+2.2KW The difference between it and the old router is like night and day. It's very quiet, the ...
