Missing Tabs

The attached file is for 8 parts. If you look at the toolpath Profile 1, tabs, you will see that I have attached tabs to all 8 parts. However, when I Preview the toolpath, not all of the tabs appear. The Shark only cut the tabs that showed. The other parts came loose.

Hi Mike,

If you close the vectors you are using for that toolpath it will work as you want.

You can add tabs to a open vector, but in the ones not working the tabs are too close to the ends of the vector. If for some reason you need those vectors to be open, edit the tabs and slide them down a little. Recalculate the toolpath and you should see the tabs. If some are still missing, move then farther down and recalculate again.

Another option is to make the width of the existing tabs smaller.

Closing the vectors did work. Thank you.

However, I couldn't use "join open vectors". When I did, it deleted everything on the "full profile" layer. I had to use "join/close open vectors with a smooth curve" and do it one pair at a time.
Weird.

More learning curve: Don't attempt to pocket with the pocket width the same size as the cutter. The program turns the pocket into many, many small pockets and the cutter goes up and back down between each pocket. Takes forever.

I closed them with the Join open vectors tool. Each one actually consists of two separate vectors - a 'U' shaped bottom and an semi-circular cap. Be sure you have both highlighted.

If you just make your 3rd layer visible and active (I can't recall the layer name), only those vectors will be visible and easy to select.

When I opened your file and make each toolpath visible one at a time, the profile one showed two green start points so I knew the vectors were open and made up of two separate vectors.
