what is the difference in the units? which is better?
im looking to buy a used unit and am looking at these two.

They are both the same, just a different name. The mako was limited edition for extra accessories that came with the machine.

i was wondering cause it seems that you can only use a colt or similar trim router but you can use a larger on the mako

If it is only capable of using a colt or trim router then is is not a Pro HD it is a Pro unit. The HD stands for heavy duty and can handle the larger routers. The mako is probably the newer of the 2 machines you are looking at and included extras that the pro would not have had.

To use a larger router on the pro plus hd (really both) requires a larger clamp to fit the router.
Otherwise, both will handle the the larger router. NWA has the clamp.
Most would probably suggest you get the aluminum clamp referred to in other postings if you are going to have to purchase one.
