Recently received my Shark HD4 extended bed and pretty much have it set up.
I'm transitioning from a previous system I used and would like to generally get the same, or better, results with this system.
Looking for tips on best bits and toolpaths to carve something like this, custom sized footlockers mainly for military and/or anyone that would like one.
Great to be on this forum!

Re: Help in Transition
I would probably start with the same bits you used from the other machine.
Those lockers looked pretty good to me.
Possibly start with some MDF to practice with first to make sure things are all lined up.
I am sure others will soon chime in for you.

No way, we're sitting this one out. It's on you now, Steve!SteveM wrote:I am sure others will soon chime in for you.
Yes, we're here to help. From the looks, nothing on the boxes would be challenging for the HD4, once you have it dialed in. You're in the plus category already from having used these kinds of machines before.
As for new feeds and speeds, compare what you were using to the HD4. Is the HD4 or the other one more rigid? If the HD4 is more rigid, then by all means start with the old values and experiment upwards. If by some circumstance the HD4 is more flexible, then start lower. But, by and large you should do fine.
And as Steve said, there are a small crowd of us here to make sure your problems and questions get the help you need, minus the snark, plus plus on the useful information.
Regards,
Thom
