Carving on a Curve

Post by BillK »

This is for my Great Nephew and God son Dylan. I don't think he reads the forum, his birthday is next month.

This is a piece of red pine from Michigan that I had left over from when I finished a room in my basement. It was used as a molding around the doors and windows.

Clear water based finish with a little glazing to bring out the carving a bit.

Nice work. Did you use the 4th axis or was it done in Aspire?

Here's what I did from the design stand point.

I made a 3D model of the molding in another program. Just drew the profile and extruded it to length. I then imported the STL file into Aspire and added the other components which conform to the imported model.

No 4th axis involved.

Thanks,

Tony,

You know, anyone can carve on a flat board. Hahaha.

The possibilities between the software and the machine set up are almost endless.
