African Mahogany E G A with Iwo Jima flag raising
Hi Again Well this is for Master Gunnery Sargent that is retiring from the corps.I made it from African Mahogany except the two walnut accent corners. If you look at the EGA I did it Three times like a fade out.I used Aspire on alot of this.We have the flowing flag. And the flag raising On Iwo Jima.On the Banner I engraved a brass plate. The project size is 3 x 9 x17 .The carving was cut out of 5/4.Rough out with 1/4 ballnose,Finished with 1/8 ball stepover was .015 Still alot of sanding. Also ran the rest machining with a 1/16 ball.Put on 3 coats of poly satin. For sanding I bought a proxxon sander you can get into tight places with that tool. Also used dremel tool with scotch brite these work great removing the fussies. Also used the little sanding sticks (Twig) I hope you like it.I had alot of fun building it. Very creative basecircle, Keep up the good work. That mahogany is one of my favorite woods to carve.
