Vacuum hold down fixtures

Post by Loudspeakerboy »

I've just ordered a kit from http://www.joewoodworker.com/veneering/v2-about.htm for his venturi vacuum system that is powered by my existing air compressor. I have also ordered some 10" x 10" x 1" pieces of HDPE (Plastic cutting board stuff) and an o-ring making kit (about $250 total). I will use the HDPE to make dedicated fixtures for each component I intend to make, using the shark to cut/make the fixtures. I'm using my Shark to make acoustic guitar bridges, head plate inlays, fingerboard inlays, and sound hole rosettes. Fun stuff!! The system is capable of pulling 28" of mercury!! That's 2000# per square foot (about 14 PSI). The surface area of the bridge is about 6 square inches, so 80 PSI of holding power.

Happy Holidays.. Michael
