Not cutting where I want it to
New user with the Piranha with Cut2D. Got everything up and ready to go. I made a nameplate like instructed in one of the videos (Rocket). Placed the material in the middle of the platform, Used the Touch plate to zero everything, loaded the file, pressed ok and the router relocated to the front of the platform and started cutting (away from my material that was in the middle of the board). Did I miss something ?
Re: Not cutting where I want it to
are you sure you set your zero points correctly? Easy to tell if you simply have it move to zero.
My second thought would be to check the size of the job versus what you want it to cut.
Other than that, we may need some pictures of the setup.

Setting zero points: Don't understand. I place the material in the middle of the platform and then used the Touch Plate to set the zero.studio-n wrote:are you sure you set your zero points correctly? Easy to tell if you simply have it move to zero.

Size of the job: In Cut2D, under the JOB SETUP > SIZE I have my width set to the measured size of my material and the height (top to bottom) set as well. This is in inches.
I will get pictures if that doesn't help.....
Thanks.
Re: Not cutting where I want it to
This is the setup I used. Its similar to the nameplate in the Cut2D video. However, I'm using 3/4 inch wood.
Re: Not cutting where I want it to
The touch plate only sets Z zero.
Did you also set X and Y by jogging the bit to the center of your material?

Thanks Bob,
I did not (nor do i know how) set the X and Y. Could you briefly explain?
Re: Not cutting where I want it to
I don't use the touch plate, because I'm too cheap to get one..
I set the home position on the top surface of the material. Yours is on the table surface.
I clamp my workpiece to the table.
If my starting point is in the center of the material (which it usually is) I use the pendant to move the point of the tool directly over the center of the workpiece.
Then I would jog the tool down to the surface of the material I'm cutting. That puts all three axes in the center. Then set the zero position using the pendant.
Bob
Try an air cut first.
(It looks like Adrian and I agree.)

Uhmmm. I'm really confused now....
I'll go and play with it to see if I can gather what you are saying.
