Can you tell me if a Porter Cable 3-1/4 HP router could be installed on the Shark Pro Plus, or is it too heavy/strong to balance the stepper motors on the Shark? If it is, what is the maximum size router that could be installed on it? I am researching the possibility of using the Shark to V-carve granite with diamond tipped V-bits or ball end bits. I have successfully used the bits in a laminate trimmer sized router but am concerned about the feed rate control and load on the router over the course of producing 100+ pieces. If I can be convinced it can work I am ready to purchase. I have seen other machines with the 269 oz. stepper motors that accept the larger routers.
Thanks for the response!

I'd send that question directly to Tim Owens at Next Wave Automation - towens@nextwaveautomation.com. There may be some on this forum who have used other routers and will respond here as well.
I think we'd all be interested in his response.

Here was Tim's reply:
That is too large for the current carriage.
You can install the porta cable 1.25 hp one.
Thanks
Tim
