I dont know why this is happening but, before I even start to do the v-carve engraving, I do a pocket toolpath cut so I have a completely flat work surface. I next do the v-carve toolpath and I am ending up with the words being cut around the 15" diameter at varying depths, in some cases twice as deep. Why would this be happening if the project has to be level, since I already did the pocket surfacing cut.

What font are you using? When you engrave you cant actually tell it what depth to go to. The depth depends on the physical size of the letters because the router bit will go as deep as it has too until the v bit touches the inside and outside line of the letter. i hope that makes sense.

The text is Times New Roman, but the letters being cut are the same ones being used several times around the cribbage board perimiter. So the same letters are being cut at different depths.
