Lithopane carving

I've just finished my first attempt at a creating a lithopane using 0.33" glacier white Corian. I set the maximum cutting depth to 0.28" and the image is not quite bright enough even with a powerful bulb placed directly behind.

Can anyone suggest what thickness of Corian should be left for the best results and the brightest whites? I left 0.05" (0.33 - 0.28) and think it needs to be thinner. I'm using a 1/32" ball nose bit.

I use .25 corian for my lithophanes. I use a .0625 or a 1/32 ball nose bits and carving depth of about .15 or so depends on photo. I never had any problems with light behind them using led lights.

Tony,

I'll give it another attempt using a different image. I though my first image had good contrast, but have another with more detail and sharper tones. Thanks for your reply.
