2 Sided Sign Issue

Post by wwoodworks »

I am carving a round sign on both sides.
I carved 1st side with pocket and v carve tool paths.
I flipped the piece over (left to right) and carved the 2nd side the same as the 1st and then carved the profile cutout.
The 2nd side profile cutout was perfectly centered but when I turned it over, the 1st side carving was off center over 3/16".
I was careful to get the workpiece sized accurately with regard to the toolpath size and was careful to get the XYZ0 correct.
Is there a good way to get this right without a lot of hastle?

Hi Woodworks.Let's see if this will help. There is a tutorial on 2sided mach. Let's try the short cut.Setup your job.And program for two dowel holes 1/4 dia.(centered)let's say your material is 1 in thick. Drill the two dowel holes one on each end.Drill depth to 1.375 deep.Make a profile program .cut halfway in the material .5 .Then when you want to unclamp and turn the pc. over (left to right or right to left)Put in your two dowels in and you should already to cut through .Make sure you add the tabs. You will have a perfect two sided part.Give it a try. Hope this helps Basecircle
