Your thoughts on new trade in program
I just got an email for the new trade in program. I thought it is good that they are doing something for current customers. I also like that they are now advertising the larger table. I think it was a good business decision.
Here's my take.
1. I don't want to lay out the cash up front and then be reimbursed. I would rather know my machine was ready and mail it in and have the other sent on receipt.
2. Curious on software. Especially if you had upgraded to aspire or do new machines not get shipped with software. If not shouldn't the price be less than the list price?
3. I'd like more info on trade in value. How is that decided? $1200 sounds a little light especially if I have to buy at full price in advance. I would think that my machine would sell for more than that fairly easily so I don't know if trading up makes sense.
overall, I applaud them for at the least, trying to improve the brand. I would like to upgrade. If I could for closer to $2000 then I would seriously consider it.

Be sure to check the small print...This only applies to Sharks bought directly from Next Wave.

I was planning on upgrading to VC 7, $149 - panel 2.0, $150 - and getting cut 3d
, $299 or almost $600. Then I got the upgrade email, looked at my 4 year old shark
and scratched my head. The new HD came with the software I was already going to
spring for so I ordered last Friday and got it today. $1200+$600= $1800. It seems to
Be a solid machine. My 2 cents

Maybe I read it wrong. I took it to mean the new unit must be purchased through them for the special.Bob wrote:Be sure to check the small print...This only applies to Sharks bought directly from Next Wave.

I probably got it wrong...the result of being exposed to too much small print everywhere.

Bob,
I recommend a 60 degree V-bit for carving fine print.
I have not received the trade in offer. Let me know when they have lease deals.

Re: Your thoughts on new trade in program
Thoughts, eh?
I've encountered many times when I needed just a little more room than was available on my original Shark. In those cases I either found a full sized CNC to borrow/rent or figured out how to cut/slide/cut my long project on my short Shark.
When the extended version of the Shark first showed up I was interested, but couldn't see spending another $4995 for 24 inches more of track. I did spend $1000 or so upgrading my controller and MDF bed to t-track. Those seemed worthwhile upgrades that did make using my Shark simpler and more productive.
This deal from NextWave looks like it might have been the way I went had it been offered a year ago. Still in need of longer cutting range I recently bought Probotix' Meteor CNC. Engineered differently than the Sharks, the open frame and dual Y motors has made it relatively easy to offer a rotary axis add-on that mounts under the gantry with no modification needed to the router mount. This 25" x 50" CNC was $1000 less than a new one from NextWave, and the PC to run it is included in that price. My original Shark still cuts any job it used to, but now I can run both CNCs at the same time if need be. Simply trading up to their longer Shark would have left me with just one CNC.
I hope NextWave gets some takers. Their control software is innovative and useful. Their Mako/Diamond and HD 2.0 machines still have some flex issues to consider, but are far stiffer than any Shark that came with an MDF bed.

Re: Your thoughts on new trade in program
I would definitely be interested in this but, haven't received an email with the offer so I guess having bought mine from Rockler makes me ineligible ( seems like they would extend the offer to all registered owners )
shark pro, Aspire 4 , VCP 6.5 , cut 3d ,
Re: Your thoughts on new trade in program
I don't think having bought from Rockler disqualifies you. The only obligation is that you buy your new one direct from NextWave and they'll write a check for your old Shark (no matter where it came from) once they get it. I imagine 95 percent of current owners bought from Rockler as they were the only retail outlet for most of the Shark's history.jdonaldson wrote:I would definitely be interested in this but, haven't received an email with the offer so I guess having bought mine from Rockler makes me ineligible ( seems like they would extend the offer to all registered owners )
Try this link for info on trading up: http://shop.nextwaveautomation.com/shop ... x?recid=20
Re: Your thoughts on new trade in program
Does this mean that you can now buy direct on the NWA website instead of going through Rockler?
