Has anyone laid their hands on one of these yet? I'm wondering if its shipping and if so is it really working? I'm looking to cut veneers, but 7 watts may not be enough. So I'd like to hear from others if its real yet.
thank you,
Ian

Hey Tony,
Yeah, I saw that, what I was not sure of is if it is shipping yet? And more importantly, what the real (usable) power of the laser is. I'm sure it will engrave nicely, but will it cut? Inquiring minds would like to know..

Re: NEW 7 WATT LASER MODULE
I was at the Vectric seminar in October and met with Jay from J-Tech the company who makes the laser for Next Wave and many other companies like Axiom and others.
The thing he mentioned is the 7 watt will cut thru about 1/8" material, but not very fast. He also said the 7 watt doesn't last as long as the 4 watt due to the increase in power and that the diode is the part that eventually burns out. It is also the most costly item in the system to replace because it's the entire head that has to be replaced.

Re: NEW 7 WATT LASER MODULE
Interesting, I did not think the J-Tech was supplying NWA the laser, I thought they actually were an alternative.
Thank you, I'll do a little more digging on their laser.

Give J-Tech a call. Like I said before, Jay form J-tech said they make the laser kits for Nextwave, Axiom, Camaster, and many other cnc machines.
They also offer stand alone kits.
