Finding the limit of your workspace

Sometimes I forget to put the starting point at the left corner, resulting in the bit running off the material or into the clamps
Now, the first toolpath I do is a dot at each corner just above the Z0, shows me instantly whether the material is placed correctly.

Re: Planning Pro Plus HD Purchase, bits and probe stylus?

Keeps us posted, please.

I found one on eBay but didn't know how water cooled works.
There is a very good speed control that some members use but I can't remember the name.
I use my Dremel at the moment.

Re: Update on the machine

The table is now very level , level enough to be able to engrave with a depth setting of .25mm however the router has some bearing play and well it sorta doesn't do the job right, perhaps a decent spindle will be the answer. I still havent put the aftermarket speed controller on yet. cheers I made ...

Re: New acrylic carvings.

Hi Tony. The acrylic, I believe would be cast, at any rate, not the kind you by at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I get it from estreetplastics.com. Fairly well priced. About 3 days shipping time. I buy the 1/2 inch thick material. I originally bought 1 inch, which is pretty cool, but I don't see any reas...

Re: New acrylic carvings.

How do you get the bi-colour effect in the Budweiser and Linda pieces?
Do you use coloured acrylic?
I have a nice big piece of red.

Re: First try with acrylic

I did 0.005" depth but I just whacked one of the High Speed 0.01" Dremel cutters in the chuck. The shank is only 0.0125". The model wasn't a very good one, rather fuzzy lines. I am editing it at the moment into a nice clean line drawing. Then I will try again. I have plenty of scrap acrylic. Oh, by ...

First try with acrylic

I have made a bracket for my Dremel and wanted to see how it worked. It performed perfectly although the bit I chose was too large. 14000 rpm and no welding of the swarf but nice clean cut. Dremel was nice and quiet too. It was an ols scratched piece of acrylic I used, wouldn't want to waste anythin...
