Re: Internet in the shop
BillK is right. I love having my WiFi reach my shop though as I typically just email jobs to myself, or have files I'm cutting for others emailed to me. On the other hand, I'd love it if the controller had WiFi and the PC could be kept in the house where jobs could be sent to it over that wifi conne...

Re: Starting and Stoping Middle of G Code
I've bumped into long jobs I didn't want to (or couldn't) sit through on occasion. Found leaving the bit at 0,0,0 easy enough, but editing the G-Code is easier from your source program. VCarve lets you pick all, 1, or any of the seperate tool paths to save to a file. Last job I did I divided it up i...

Re: What scan panel?
As much as they cost you would think the Probe and the Touch Plate were smart devices. They aren't. They are simple switches, closing a circuit to signal the controller/software. In that simplicity the same jack is easily used for both add-ons, and possibly more to come. I can see a future table com...

Re: What scan panel?
I believe it was the last two controller versions where they changed the code to not show add-on options until you registered the serial number off the add-on. I bought my probe when it first came out, and believe the Scan tab showed up with an update they created at that time. There "may" be some s...

Re: What scan panel?
It's been awhile since I bought the probe, but with the new controller software I believe after registering you'll get an email with a new code to enter, and when you then register the device using the new code within the software then the features for the device show up. I recently bought the touch...

Re: Some hints for more accurate cuts.
To get more accuracy out of your machine you could also visit the shark store at nextwave's website and get a precision collet and precision bits for your machine. This could also save some headaches. Thanks. I already have purchased and installed the Precision collet. Bought the whole kit from Pre...

Re: NWA July 3 Contoller Update
Just curious about where the original drawing for your project came from, Wolffie, and what scale it was in? I teach in a program that has both Interior Architecture students using 1/4" - 1'0" for scale, and Furniture Design students using 1/4" = 1" for scale models. There is regular confusion about...

Re: Another new guy introduction
I keep to no more depth per pass than 1 x the bit diameter. 1/4" bit = 1/4" per pass. I keep offset at 40%, but a lower number if you're getting lots of splitting as it cuts. The Onsrud site has table for different material. Take the value they list for a specific bit, then plug it into the formula ...

Re: NWA July 3 Contoller Update
I feel your frustration, Ausworkshop. We use quite a bit of metric hardware in the Furniture shop I teach in. Took years for U.S. tool catalogs to come out with metric drill bits though. They are still rare. Yes, we could get large forstners specifically for the hinges and such, but would make do wi...

Re: I finally did it
The sign looks great, Wolffie. Not sure how you're getting the 1/4 scale problem though. Doesn't happen to me unless I want a 1/4 scale version of my project. There is a dimension/ruler tool of some sort in Vcarve. I'd use it to verify that at least VCarve has your drawing at the right scale. The mi...
