Re: New zeroing/mapping to cost $$$$$
My Shark control software requires a key to use, otherwise it will not function. In 5 or 10 years, NWA may not be around to give me a new key. If that happens (and history suggests it may) my controller will become useless. A controller that is compatible with LinuxCNC or Mach3 would not likely hav...

Re: Problem with Control Software Ver. 1.5.0.23k
If I ignore this issue, will my controller stop working without warning at some point?

Re: Problem with Control Software Ver. 1.5.0.23k
I just upgraded to version K and am having the same problem. I feel fortunate that my machine did not quit working entirely due to license issues, and that my evening in the shop was not ruined. We should not need to re-do our registration like this. A simple update like this should be quick and pai...

Just stumbled upon two free auto-leveling options. The first modifies your g-code. The second is part of linuxcnc.

Re: Vicious unprovoked surprise Shark attack
This question is was the computer still connected to the Shark when you hit pause. The controller is designed to continue running to completion of the program even if the computer disconnected. If you have a lengthy disconnect the controller will time out and not reconnect because is assumes there ...

Re: New zeroing/mapping to cost $$$$$
A lot of CNC control software is based on the public domain and freely available NIST Enhanced Machine Controller software. The freely available LinuxCNC is one such version. Those of us who can write software can actually fix and enhance that code. We can add features to benefit both ourselves and ...

Re: Vicious unprovoked surprise Shark attack
Sounds like you have a ghost in your machine. :o The control box and your PC have to have a 2-way conversation to work. From the Controller to the PC to update its progress, and from the PC to the controller for Pause and E-Stop commands. It sounds like you've got the Controller talking to the PC j...

Vicious unprovoked surprise Shark attack
As the cutter slotted the plastic, closer and closer to the top of the vise, I prepared to hit Pause on the control software. With plenty of time, I did so. And the software acknowledged it, by greying out pause and highlighting Continue. Good shark! And yet, in a fraction of a second, I knew someth...

Re: New zeroing/mapping to cost $$$$$
When the price is 149.00, it gets much more attention and questions. I have no idea as to how that amount was determined, but IMHO, it seems a bit high for control panel enhancements. The value has to be in the eye of each potential buyer. For comparison, A full Mach3 license is 175.00 retail and i...

Would like to switch to Mach 3
I know this has come up before, but I want to ask again. I want to switch to Mach 3 for a vast number of reasons - compatibility with other tool path software, features, fewer bugs, hardware features, etc. Also, we have a lathe and a mill that we will be CNC converting, and that means Mach 3. Is the...
