OK, cast acrylic seems to be the key. I appreciate the advice guys.

Carving Lettering in Acrylic
Hi Guys, I tried to search the forum to answer my question, but had no luck. The issue involves carving lettering in 8th inch acrylic. I am using a 60 degree v-bit and sometimes have luck, but other times the bit seems to get clogged with the plastic build-up during the carving process. This of cour...

Re: New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
I also recently increased the number an location of ventilation holes in the acrylic panels. I now have fifteen, 3/4" inlet holes along the lower edge (about the same height as the base table on the unit) as well as on the sides of the raisable door. This greatly improved the overall airflow and suc...

Re: New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
That was actually the reason I recently upgraded from a 1HP Jet to a 1 1/2HP Grizzly. MUCH better suction. As far as the sawdust/chips generated, I'd be glad to post a working photo or video. Unfortunately, at this stage of the learning curve I'm merely scratching the surface (literally and figurati...

Re: New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
The dust/chips are sucked out of the rear of the enclosure using my Grizzly dust collector. I don't think it would still pose any risk would it?

Re: New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
Thanks Jon. The entire unit is very heavy and is nearly wedged between the adjoining cabinets limiting the possibility for movement. But I will watch for that nonetheless and appreciate the tip.

Re: New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
Very nice! I wonder if you could tuck some hatchback style cylinders along the edge to neutralize the weight? Of course that isn't very far from some actuator cylinders to open it by push button. Especially if you have shop air. Good thought guys. I actually went low-tech and have a hook/latch atta...

New Black Diamond CNC Cabinet
Hi Guys, I finally got around to building my enclosed CNC cabinet after getting my Shark for Christmas. The photo shows it in the open position, but it is fairly airtight when lowered and does a great job of keeping the sawdust limited to one spot, instead of my whole shop. The lid is constructed of...

Re: CNC Cabinet
Thanks Lee. The Clark model has an integrated fresh air system which I think will go a long way in preventing the router from possibly overheating in an enclosed environment. The air ducts also help direct debris toward the vacuum port at the rear of the enclosure. I think I'll opt for the covered w...
