Re: pocket depths

What we used to do many years ago with poorly generated assembly language code is to pass it through an optimizer. Lots of work to get the first one running but then very easy to keep using it. This works great in a production environment but probably not worth it for a hobby project. I just sit her...

Re: I can't figure out how to make the arc i need

This is exactly why I have High School students working part time.
I keep reminding them these problems are just like video games. Seems to work.

Re: Step and repeat patterns

When we started Vectric didn't have tutorials on this subject but I think they had it in their code. TEMPLATES are the answer. You take a part and make a (Part) template out of it. It's all covered in tutorials. Then place that template on a new job. Place it many times or mix and match templates. Y...

Re: Water-Cooled Spindle Setup Question

We have a shark with a 611 router. We added a power strip and an hour meter to that strip and plugged the router into that strip. Router brushes do not last 200 hours of run time. We are setting up a water cooled spindle using MACH3 on a different machine. Our controller has an 115 volt output for t...

Re: Backlash and Maintenance

Confirmation that tightening the T-Nuts took what I called backlash out of the system.
Cuts are back to normal.

Re: Backlash and Maintenance

Well it's the T-Nuts. We tightened the three screws holding the T-Nuts on X and Y axis. We might have stripped on on the Y axis T-Nut. Put machine back together without fly cutting the bed and all appears to be fixed. I believe we will need to fly cut the bed cause we had the bed off to get at the Y...

Re: Backlash and Maintenance

Good suggestion
I've asked for a listing of all the nuts. No other way to check to be sure you've got them all.

Re: Backlash and Maintenance

I believe the screws holding the T-Nuts have come loose.
The X axis was east to get to and tightening the 3 screws holding the T-Nut seemed to help.
I'll take careful measurements and report the results.

Re: Random offsets and static electricity.

Wow!!! All things I should have known and none that I addressed. I am actually an EE (40+ years) but my degree is so old it says DC only on it now. I think you right on on all your observations. The spray is a good idea. I would caution readers that the green wire, 3 rd prong and case ground might n...

Re: Random offsets and static electricity.

We have the shark in an enclosure (wooden box) and have been removing waste plastic more often.
That and perhaps the monsoon season coming to an end (power input is better) has eliminated the issue for now.
