Re: Too good to be true price ?
Suggestion: Call NextWave and ask about refurbs that give you that size working area. I bought a refurbed (new, to all appearances) "Black Diamond" unit last year for about a grand less than the new price, and they threw in several bonuses -- including the then-optional Touch Plate. No regrets on th...

Re: Bought & Paid, no download link for CP 2.0?
Joseph, where is the free update available for download? I can't find it on the site.

Re: Anyone else's controller crash on installing CP 2.01???
Joseph, after the pain and suffering of the 2.01 upgrade (now resolved), I have to admit I'm gun-shy. What advances/patches does 2.05 offer over 2.01?
I can't afford software downtime during the Christmas sales rush! Thanks for the heads-up, though.

Re: Anyone else's controller crash on installing CP 2.01???
My machine is working OK with 2.01 (no craziness yet), but I am seeing "anomalies" in the setup/pre-carve phase. Specifically, the 0,0,0 point sometimes moves to a random point on the table instead of the one I zeroed to. So far, I've noticed this problem each time before I actually ran the cut, but...

Re: Pricing for a toy
In my experience, the profit of your sale is inversely proportional to the time it takes -- and finishing, as you've found, often eats the lion's share of your time. Sooooo ... 1) Find a highly desired product that carves quickly and doesn't require much finishing (coasters, simple signs, etc.), or ...

Re: Its ARRIVED! And I am already confused
Don't ignore the material's moisture content. I manage a dry-kiln operation in South Carolina, and we find that poplar is prone to "pocketing" -- some boards dry fine, and others retain moisture (sometimes in just one segment of the board, usually toward the middle. Moist wood is prone to tear-outs,...

Fun with substrates
Took a walk through my local big-box home improvement store, looking for ideas. Hmm ... cork flooring ... what would that be good for? Carving, that's what!

Re: Anyone else's controller crash on installing CP 2.01???
Well, sportsfans, it turned out to be ... a corrupted MicroSD card in the controller that was preventing the firmware update from "sticking." Easy fix once I figured that out -- as I was breaking the system down to send the controller to Next Wave for repair (their suggestion after maybe 60 minutes ...

Re: Anyone else's controller crash on installing CP 2.01???
The problem was much gnarlier than what I first described -- and I haven't found a solution yet. I spent the better part of an hour on the phone with NWA Tech Support this morning, and at this point (2 hours later) they still have no solution. Sounds like an update that could have used at least one ...

Re: Anyone else's controller crash on installing CP 2.01???
Thanks, Ed. I'll admit to being bumfuzzled by this; after initial teething pains with 2.0 -- as seems to be the rule with Next Wave software -- it had been rock-solid stable until this cropped up. If anyone else has experienced my kind of "fun," I'd love to hear what you did to resolve the issue. (M...
