Re: CNC and clock building
I'm wrapping up Clayton's Simplicity clock, the plans to which I first purchased back in August of 2009. I'd started making it by hand, shelved it, and remembered it when I bought the CNC machine a couple years ago. Even though I haven't finished the build, I'm already looking forward to the next cl...

Re: CNC and clock building
Has anyone tried building a spring-driven clock? Was it difficult? Where do you buy springs?

Re: CNC and clock building
That's gorgeous! How long did it take you?
The gears look like half-inch birch ply. What about the other materials? Those inlays are amazing. If it's not too bold to ask, how much do you figure the materials cost you?

Re: CNC and clock building
Very true. I hadn't used the CNC machine since moving, due to other obligations, and once I started back in I realized that part of my hesitation was worrying about using the machine again. Now that I'm back in the swing of things, it's exciting again. I'll post some pics once I get everything toget...

Re: CNC and clock building
Those look fantastic! I'm excited to see some videos from that first picture once it's all working. I purchase one of Clayton's plans back in 2009 (the Simplicity) long before I had a CNC machine. I started making pieces by hand before setting the project aside. Finally came back to it when I got th...

Re: Teacher plaque
I figured doing the apple separately then gluing it on would be the easy way to do it, I just didn't know it would look so good.
Nice job on this!

Re: Teacher plaque
Very nice! Is it made out of one solid piece, with everything leveled except the apple?
The writing on that first line looks a little long for the plaque, but it works. What did you use for the shiny finish?

Re: Problem with 1.6 controller
Could you post a screenshot? If I recall, buttons and settings grey out when the controller box is disconnected from the PC.

Re: Rounding corners
Checked square corners. I thought this meant you'd already checked that box. What were you checking instead? You're right about the post processors: contour for 3d, arcs for everything else. The contours file relaxes the precision between points slightly, which allows the machine to go a little fas...

Re: Rounding corners
That's more egregious than I'd expect. I don't know why it would do that.
