Re: Auto Spindle On?
Take a look in the GCode, at the top. If there's an M3 (or M03) line there, that's what is turning on your spindle. If you can either remove it from the post-processor files, or just remove it from the GCode files then the spindle shouldn't start unless you tell it to. In my experience, it takes a b...

Re: Updated Control Software - v2.1 Performance Review
I concur! Joseph made a whole lot of little bitty changes this time that add up to much more confidence in the program. He improved the internal number of significant-digits in calculations throughout, and he got the inches/millimeters settings to stick reliably. He even fixed it so the "Set" dialog...

Re: Spindle For Shark Available
Well, Joseph Poirier has been a huge help trying to track down what is and isn't there for controlling the spindle SPEED via the GCode. In summary, "we were SO close! And yet so far." Roadblocks on the path from Vectric tool to actual spindle rotations The path from Vectric tool databases into the G...

Re: Touch plate with small bits?
I do some PCB and acrylic drilling with bits down to 0.026" (26 mils, 0.66mm) and haven't had any problems with them. That said, let's face it: Aluminum always has an insulating oxide layer at it's contact with air. For the probe to work, since it's a pretty small current (just measured at 0.5mA), i...

Re: Units mismatch at startup, v2.10
I can confirm that it's working much better. Thanks, Joseph, for letting me in the Beta long enough to stop trying to destroy my machine . You're a prince, man. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Units mismatch at startup, v2.10
All: I installed the newer panel version, 2.10, and am now experiencing catastrophic units-of-measure conflicts. All my toolpaths are in mm, as are the coords for 0,0,0. Say the unit is as 0,0,12 (safe height, mm). When I start the v2.10 panel, it always starts in inches regardless of preferences. S...

Re: z axis alignment
Very good points. Having everything square without any shims or weird stuff is best. But on this machine, I'm not seeing much of a way to make actual adjustments. Far lower costs in production, I'm presuming. I was going to leave the torque-induced stuff alone for now, since rigidity seems harder to...

Re: z axis alignment
Okay, I have a very odd, but seemingly effective way of getting rid of **most** of the Z-axis being non-perpendicular to the bed. The way I think about this, the Z-axis is getting error because of weight-induced (and motion-induced) deformation from two main places: Firstly, from the plastic deforma...

Swapping X and Y axes....
_DSC1916_smaller.JPG _DSC1907_smaller.JPG _DSC1906_SMALL.JPG Because of how my Shark (Rockler 60th) is placed in the room, I stand along the long end, with the bridge going left-to-right. After being more than a little confused about why the X-axis goes along the width of the bed, today I decided t...
