I asked Rockler about the Kreg KKS-KLRBK Bench Klamp 6" Reach and this is what they said. A lot of static can build up with dust traveling inside the vacuum hose. That is why many hoses have a copper wire for the coil. For projects with long run rates, this can build up to be substantial.

I'm using a IBM Thinkpad T30 that only has USB1 built in but I bought a $8.00 PCMCIS USB 2.0 card and everything works great.
