Every once and a while they let me get out in the shop here at Rockler and makes something... this time I was able to make a pumpkin for the Rockler Facebook page to celebrate Halloween.

Re: What do I really need when buying one of these?

Hi Tony,

You do not need a touch plate as it already comes with the 60th Anniversary Edition. You don't necessarily need a probe unless you plan on copying something that you have already made.

Hope this helps,

Re: Surfacing a Spoil Board

I like McBuster’s idea of going through the machine and making sure nuts and bolts are secure. Many users become concerned about doing this by stating “ I paid $xx and everything should be perfect ”. I would disagree with this assessment as these units are shipped through UPS and in doing so they ca...

Re: Materials

I’m guessing you are looking for 2 ply plastic…. Something that can be engraved, I would do a Google search under “two ply plastic”. As for outdoor finishing applications, there are a couple of things you can use, check out Rockler’s exterior finishes: http://www.rockler.com/general-finishes-exterio...

Re: ABS chip clearing

While working in a plastics machine shop years ago we always used a direct stream of air on the bit via an air compressor. You can set it up where this stream blows toward a vacuum funnel (something like this: http://www.rockler.com/tabletop-dust-fitting ) . http://assets.rockler.com/media/catalog/p...

Re: V-carve corners

Maybe the router in the clamp is loose or possibly a coupler on one of the axes has moved or come loose…. You might also look at all the T-Nuts, making sure they are in place (not loos...

Re: Concentricity Between Tool Changes

I think Tag0110 may be onto something: I would not use an end mill though, I would use a dial indicator in the collet and figure out which way is out which would give you both X and Y. You can easily shim the router clamp front/back/left/right as needed. Could also be as 4D thinker said and maybe th...
