Check to see what vectors are selected. If there is a border selected it will carve around the letters if no border it will carve the letters

Does this happen on all files or just certain ones? If it happens only on a specific file maybe upload the file for evaluation.

Did you ever figure out what was making the file stop? Did you eject the thumb drive or just pull it out? Maybe the whole file didn't get saved to the thumb drive.

May sound like a dumb question, but the surface tool path would eliminate the pocket path you cut to allow the hold down bolt to go thru, unless you are flipping the board over and running that tool path to make the stock thinner. Maybe try doing it in sections. Cut the vector and do different offsets for thru hu and the LL.

For the smaller lettering, a 30- or 45-degree bit might help you get cleaner, deep letters. And of course, the size of the very tip of the bit also determines the smallest feature size. When the letters look rough, it might also be a dull bit. Sharp bits cut better, but wood is a stringy stuff, so ...
