Please show a picture of it on your CNC in use. I assume you'd only be using it for carvings or where cutting through the material isn't required.

nice! I just got an etcher and was wondering if the spindle ran during the etching. I'll download and try it.

I have mine on a environmentally controlled shop. I used distilled water. If there's a chance of freezing, you should definitely use some sort of antifreeze.

Are you using a router or spindle? If spindle, which one? I'm not sure this is relevant, but I have the 3HP spindle and early on had very strange issues with the Z.

If it moved smoothly with the motor disconnected then it sounds like the motor is not aligned properly.

Kyle Ely has an excellent set of online tutorials. Like you, I was a decent woodworker and decided to get a CNC. This videos were a life saver.

Does anyone know a way of fitting a 3/4" shank onto the water cooled spindle? Is there an adapter? Can you change out the piece that holds the collet? I just realized I can't even use a bit with a 1/2 inch shank. HELP!

Buy a 1/2" ER20 collet
