Re: New Member/lots of questions

The pro certainly gives you more size capability than the basic shark. Operationally, all three versions work the same, so no issues there. Design and letter engraving is excellent and very easy to layout and program. Your designs will not have the dark burn toning that lasers give, but I have had e...

Re: Pro Plus Touch Probe Insights

For what it is worth, I never did any sort of break in, and have not had any gaps. I am currently near the end of an 6 hour scan and still going strong. I'll let you know if there are any issues.

Re: Everything cuts backwards

Mike, Is it backwards in just X, just Y, or both? I am guessing from your description that it is only in X. Is this a new issue, or has it always done this? Does it jog correctly, or is that backwards too? When you jog using the directional buttons on the keyboard, the right button should jog the he...

Re: Frustrated

With the holidays over, hopefully you'll be able to speak directly with Next Wave, but with a bit more info, we might be able to help out. What OS are you running? I've not used Windows 7, but am running my Pro using XP. Give us whatever details you may, and the crowd here might be able to help. Ralph

I spent the day playing with mine too! Try adding the picture again, it does not seem to have come through.

Re: new machine

Get a cheap one! It will collect a lot of dust setting next to your machine! You do not need a huge bunch of computing power. One more thought, if you do not have a CAD program already, I like DeltaCad. I use it for drawings and layouts, then import the .dxf files into VCarve. VCarve is great for pr...

Re: CNC Chip Carving

Bob, I used to sell CNCs that could carve. At a trade show, I had a guy complain that the machine was going to take food out of the mouths of a lot of skilled carvers. I asked him how many skilled carvers he actually knew! There used to be a lot of skilled wagon wheel makers too. Enjoy expanding you...

Re: new machine

A lot of the answer will depend on the work you want to do. A new laptop is not necessarily needed. The control software for the machine itself is not demanding. You can download a trial version of the VCarve software and see how well it works on your machine. It is better to have the VCarve softwar...

Full Disclosure

Hey all, I had a question or two on my role here, so I thought I'd explain just to be clear. I am a professional woodworking consultant, I make my living advising professional woodshops how to do what they do better, faster and cheaper. I also write magazine articles for woodworking magazines, and p...
