Re: shark versus shopbot
Mark, The probe is perfectly capable of scanning in the parts and the volute. Carving both sides of the volute (providing the Z-axis will accept it) is not a problem, the trick would be locating it accurately to cut both sides as separate operations. Tim Owens is a member of this forum and works for Next Wave, the maker of the Shark. He can answer your question. The rest of us would be guessing.
My guess is that Tim is away for the holidays. Try sending him a message directly.

Re: Weird cuts, now controller has no power
First, be sure all the wires are tight. Especially around the axis plugs. In my Z axis, one pin had not aligned and pushed it's mate out of the back of the plug. Hard to see without close inspection. My Z axis only wanted to go down. The other thought that comes to mind is to make sure that your USB...

Here is the overview of the Work Table http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5290/5304754829_902da26d97_m.jpg The T-Slots are every 4 inches or so on center. I cut the slots with a 3/8" dado blade, then used Rockler's T-Slot bit to under cut. http://bit.ly/eVsq0N http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5007/5304757...

Re: Potential Buyer Needs Info on Machine Capabilities
Abi, It may be possible to create the types of molds you want just in the software, but it can be tricky. Scanning existing molds into your computer is well within the capabilities of the CNC Shark using the scanning probe. The scanning takes time, but only needs to be done once, then molds can be p...
