Re: Leveling the gantry

Easier to level the bed in my opinion. I have been programming/operating CNC's in industry for a lot of years. Typically, the head is used to "plane" the working surface to insure that they two are parallel. You can't really plane the entire Shark factory table since the bit cannot reach all points....

Re: Lithos and errors

Artist in FLa, If it is a G-Code Error, that should be VERY easy to spot. Copy the .tap file and remane it replacing the .tap with .txt You can then open it in Notepad and read the code line by line. You will see the Z axis cutting depths. They should all be exactly the same max depth for the litho....

Re: multiple router bits?

I do multiple bit projects all the time. My technique is to jog the head up, change the tool, but only finger tight. Carefully jog the head back down close to material surface, then slide the bit into contact with the material. Now tighten the bit, and BE SURE TO RESET THE Z TO ZERO. Keep X and Y ze...

Re: Lithos and errors

Cdat, I have been programming and running CNC's for more than 10 years. One thing I know is that they will do EXACTLY what you tell them to do, not what you WANT them to do! Cutting corners is never a good idea, and is likely to waste stock, or worse, damage your machine. The lithos look great, by t...

Re: Reversing X axis

Fision,

I have had this issue as well, typically after using the pause or E-Stop. I'll talk with Tim from Next Wave and see what he says.

Re: "Generating Machine Code"????

Fred, That was my error, the "Cut Out Toolpath" video is next, then the "Cutting Out Parts" video which shows the G-Code generation. I have fixed the end title and the new video will be posted. The proper order is: 1- Defining Material Size 2- Adding Text 3- Using Shape Tools 4- Carving Toolpath 5- ...

Re: lost my x axis

Just for information's sake, be sure to check the coupler between the motor and the drive screw.

At one time, the motor was running, but no Z- movement. Turns out, the set screw in the coupler had come loose. I re-tightened the set screw, and the problem was solved.

Re: MISSING STEPS IN X,Y,Z AXIS

I use my Pro in a pretty cold shop as well, and I've not had problems yet. That being said, the linear guide rods and bearings use grease to keep themselves moving smoothly. All greases (unless specifically designed for extreme cold) will thicken and stiffen at very cold temps. The same is true of t...

Christmas Gift

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5282065984_ce69fcc63b_m.jpg This is a gift I made for my wife's friend. I engraved the lettering and then cut out the State profile on the CNC Shark. I then spray painted the letters and sanded the face to remove the excess. ( I blanked out the address for privac...
