Re: An HD4 has been donated to our chapter-HELP!!

You will need software. Normally the HD4 came with VCarve Pro which is available from Vectric.com. Check the support section of the nextwavecnc.com website. They have the manuals available there. You may have to register the machine with NextWave in order to get to the portal page. Depending on whet...

After Market Tailstock

I am looking to do some 3d carving on a rotary project. One of the things I need is a M2 taper in the tailstock in order to install a larger diameter cup on the live center. I found a tailstock on Amazon that meets the need except for the height. The center-height of the after market tailstock is 2....

Re: Shark Dust Boot

After many projects and having to clean up the shop frequently, I explored other options for dust boots. I discovered that the 2.5 inch dust pickup did not provide enough suction. The KentCNC dust boot has a 4-inch dust port which provides much more airflow - if you have a dust collector other than ...

Re: 2hp Spindle Pump and Flow Indicator

Today, the pump stopped pumping (again) and the spindle has overheated. Now it is still spinning up but making excessive noise. I suspect the overheating caused damage to the spindle motor. Time for a replacement????

Re: I Dd It!

There are three "trial" projects in the instruction booklet. I tried this with success. This gave me encouragement to try more advanced things. I even was able to put clip art on the workpiece as well. Check on YouTube and do google searches. There is a lot of help there. About a year ago, I discove...

Re: new to 4th axis

There has been some improvements on the 4th axis since the pendant has become available. It would be nice to have the 4th axis visible all the time, but you are right that the A axis can be accessed by pressing the number button above the Up Z.

Re: x and y square? trying to cut dados and end rabbets

I made a fence along the Y axis and then cut a pocket toolpath to just touch the newly installed fence. This assures that the cut will be square as you desire when the workpiece is butted against the fence. The exercise of making a fence is well worth it. I just used MDF and attached it to my spoil ...

Re: 2hp watercooled spindle

I have placed the spindle tubes as well as the laser cables inside the drag chain on the back of the gantry on my HD520. It took a while, but careful organization of the cables allows all to fit inside the drag chain. Just be sure you have enough slack on the hose between the spindle and the beginni...

Turn on Spindle without a toolpath

I just spent most of the day trying to true up my y-axis fence. Essentially I want to skim off a small amount to be sure the fence is aligned with the spindle moving down the Y-axis. Nearly every posting on YouTube suggested to just turn on the spindle (or router) and then jog the spindle up the Y a...

Re: 2hp Spindle Pump and Flow Indicator

I bought a new pump and new flow indicator. The problem apparently was the flow indicator as it would not turn around even though water was flowing. I replaced both pump and flow indicator. The problem is now resolved. The old pump still works, so I saved it for the next disaster. The flow indicator...
