Re: Dashed Lines

Dave, Roger's second approach would be my choice assuming you have access to a CAD or drawing program. But if you do, export the dashed lines as either an .eps or .dxf file, then import that into VCP and toolpath them with a Profile On toolpath with a v-bit. Another approach using VCP directly would...

Re: Milling items longer than the table?

Hi Thomas, You should be able to tile 3D designs imported into V-Carve Pro. Quick examples shown below. If you can provide more details as to the results you were getting, someone will help you out. Tim PS To avoid any possible confusion the two Vector Art 3D Design & Carve series are designed only ...

Re: Extending the z axis from 4.25 in to 7 in

For anyone interested, there is a tutorial on how to setup and machine this project in Cut3D and it does not require slicing.

It can be found here:

Re: Layers

and that is why you have so many happy customers Hi thomas, Thanks for the comment, but just to clarify I am nothing more than a long time user of Vectric products and a very happy customer as many of you are. I just enjoy giving back and helping people when I can. As for your question, there are 3...

Re: Layers

Hi Bob, By islands I am referring to the central area of some text, such as in the 'B', 'a' and 'e' in this example. If you have all the text selected (just drag a lasso around everything with your mouse) as shown in the first picture, then click on the Weld Selected Vectors icon, the results will b...

Re: Layers

Hi Tony, Yes, you are correct for how I did this simple sample. Since my goal was to show the technique of welding designs together and the project size was small, I just selected a very small bit to get the detail and let people preview the results with only two toolpaths. Your bit selection would ...

Re: Layers

No, this can easily be accomplished with VCP (or Aspire) using only 2D toolpaths. Big steps are to create the text you want and get it properly positioned. Select the text, right click and use the Copy to Layer command to send a copy to a new layer. Make this layer invisible for now. Select the bord...

Re: Problems with Off Set

Jeff, If you just join nodes, the ones at the 9 o'clock position overlap a bit and you may need to adjust them manually first. Plus, the shape is made up of a variety of different type lines and if you go on to use the offset tool that is only going to get worst. After the vectors are joined, I woul...

Re: Eliminating cutter head lines from each pass

Hey guys, For the easiest way, I would suggest using the built-in Allowance Offset option. Vectric added the option a couple of versions ago to allow for a quick toolpath offset to be set without the need to offset vectors or create odd sized tools to fool the software. You will find it on a couple ...

Re: Vcarve Pro

No, the pattern will not have narrow lines. The way v-carving works is the bit will make multiple passes if necessary until the material is removed between two closed vector shapes. Normally the only reason to use a larger diameter v-bit is to increase the cutting length to minimize the number of pa...
