Re: Z axes Drawings
Not long ago I switched to the water cooled spindle. Was disappointed that it only had a 1/4 inch spindle. I surface my spoil board on occasion but the surface bit is 1/2 inch. I switched back to my electric router. Bummer.... Comments? No sure if it will help you but; Collets for Spindles are meas...

Re: Controller Replacement BlackBox
recently purchased a BlackBox Controller and set it up on a dummy station. Runs well and other than no being able to run the A Axis on a separate control channel (you need to switch cable) it has feature that I like. 1. I can control my spindle speed from within the Tap file. 2. I can turn my Spindl...

Re: Water cooled spindle beginning to make noise
My first check would be the bearings, they are failing or in need of a lube job

Re: Starting in the middle of a program after Estopping?
No as hard as it sounds if X and Y Axis hasn't been reset. Go back to your model in Apsire or V-Carve and delete out the portion that's all read been carved, leaving a little bit of over lap then create a new tap file. I like to create several tap files for my large carvings, that way I have places ...

Re: Feeds and Speeds
no chart would ever work for someone else. Feed and Speed are based on the Material, the bit being used and rotation speed of your spindle/router. ideally you want to want to have the feed and speed set so that one point of the bit clears the material just as the second starts it's cut, but even tha...

Re: Wrecking my Brain
without seeing your path files I would guess that you're using too large of a bit. The bit you use should pass between the closest points of the stars. I've used bits as small as .75mm, the to using them is very slow plunge, shallow cuts (half the diameter for depth and pass or smaller). Use larger ...

Re: vacuum pump recommendations?
Another source for a good vacuum pump is and old refrigerator. The pumps are quiet. I would also suggest that no matter what pump you wind up using make a vacuum storage tank.

Re: Z Axis Drop
Things to check for Z axis problems.. 1. The router mount, the HDPE mount will let the router slip down. either replace it with an aluminum mount or place a set screw in it, be careful to not over tighten the screw and bind up the router. 2. Bindings in cables as others have pointed out. Also check ...

Re: Pausing a carving
I've yet to find a really good way to pause a carving. But what I do is move back to 0,0,0 and then move the z axis down until it's in good contact with carving material. Then power off the Shark... I've also used an edge finder with varied success. And moving the gantry until hit mechanical zero an...
