Re: Acrylic project for sick friend

I love my diamond drag bit. But, depending on what your doing, I find v bits work well, such as text where I like deep v cuts. Also, .0625 ball nose bits, and sometimes .125 ball nose bits give very nice results. Just depends on you. Try it all, your only limited by your imagination.

Re: 1/8th Dremel bits for engraving / carving

Not Dremmel, but 1/8 inch bits. I ordered a 1/8 inch collet for my router so I could use the 1/8 inch bits that I ordered by mistake. They work fine, and I use them on a lot of carvings in place of the .125 ball nose bits. I suspect the Dremmels would work just as well.

Re: Walnut Humidor

mchurchf, a humidor is where cigars are stored, to prevent them drying out too much.

csnyder3, just Google Roll Tide line art. You'll find all their logos. Simply copy and paste the logo you want, then copy into your software.

Re: Corian litho with acrylic

Good info Tony. I think the overwhelming nature of what our machines can do have many afraid, or unsure of what to do. I agree, make mistakes, and remember to not do that again. It's all fun stuff. Experiment, and try new things. I still remind myself often that this is the best toy I've ever owned.

Re: Graduation Gift acrylic sign

Jimily, I'm no expert, but, I have done, probably a few hundred acrylics. Just a thought. Since the area is in the upper portion of your carving, looks like your clamp pressure might have been a bit tighter up there than the rest. If your table is not quite perfectly flat, the acrylic will flex with...

Re: Sacrifice Board hardware needed for a Shark

If you countersink your bolts, or nuts, low enough, you should never have a problem hitting them with your bits. I use the standard t bolts from Rockler. They slide into the slots on the table and you tighten the nuts from the top. Works every time. Haven't had a problem for the three years I've bee...

Re: Acrylic Advice

It is pretty simple, and for multi colored light bases a couple of us came up with a bigger base, hollowed out underneath to house the remote pieces so you can change colors, etc, and not have any more exposed than you would for the single color bases.

Re: Soap carving

Base circle, be sure to post them when their done. These remind me of the soap you can buy for your bathroom with all sorts of figures molded in, and they float too. Thinking of trying different colored soaps too. Nice thing about it, probably never ware out a bit.

Re: Acrylic Advice

Tim, there are tons of posts regarding leveling and flattening your table. If you take depth readings with your bit at all four corners of your table surface, as well as other places, it'll give you an idea of how far off the table is. You can simply shim your work piece during your carve, or shim t...
