I'm using the piranha controller with a piranha cnc. Are you trying to use it on a different shark?

Re: V1.6 and touch plate
I have a piranha which has it's own control pendant and doesn't use the software control panel, so some of what I say may or may not apply. 1) I have noticed that the control pendant "forgets" the setting for touch plate thickness when it is turned off and goes back to the default size. Therefore, I...

Re: Hissing sound from Shark Pro Plus
Interesting; I often get that sound when I turn on the controller to my Piranha. It always goes away though, when I jog around to set 0 0 0. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't sound damaging. Hopefully someone with more info than I have can fill us in

Re: Colt router TIR
I recently did some shell inlay using a .025 inch dia bit so I needed minimal runout. With a precision collet, my colt had a little under .003 which might have been good enough, but I traded it out for the Dewalt 611. The replacement NWA clamp fit perfectly, and with a Precise Bits collet I measured...

Re: Issue with SCP 2.1 rel 003
Joseph, speaking for myself, having the user set the touch plate thickness makes the most sense. Some of us will want zero a hair above the work, some dead on, and some want it a hair into the work. So even without the .02 offset problem, most of us would want to optimize it to our desires anyway. B...

Re: Issue with SCP 2.1 rel 003
Hi Ed, I'm a retired mechanical engineer, so my first thought was like yours, Why is it doing that? The only answer I came up with is that I'm always impressed when software works at all! Anyway, I'm pretty impressed with the support we get from NWA, and my little machine is making useful parts for ...

Re: Issue with SCP 2.1 rel 003
Ed, that is interesting. With my piranha, I need to put in a .024 correction to touch plate thickness as well. Works fine then. Unfortunately, the piranha forgets the correction every time it is turned off, but that isn't a biggy. NWA has a fix for that in their next update,

Re: Question on Pirana
Keith, that is how I've been running mine. The manual refers to running a control panel from the computer, and when I contacted support, they said the software was still being developed, so that capability might be coming. Since this is my first cnc, I haven't perceived the lack of a speed slider as...

Re: Question on Pirana
Keith, do you mean carving while running a tap file? Or are you just manually driving the gantry while the router is on?

touch plate offset
Now that I'm using the touchplate on my piranha, I've noticed it has a .025 offset when using it, and it is very consistent (cuts .025 too deep). I've measured the touchplate thickness and it is within a thousandth of what is in the controller (.375). Under setup, I can change touchplate thickness t...
