Interesting; I often get that sound when I turn on the controller to my Piranha. It always goes away though, when I jog around to set 0 0 0. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't sound damaging. Hopefully someone with more info than I have can fill us in

Joseph, speaking for myself, having the user set the touch plate thickness makes the most sense. Some of us will want zero a hair above the work, some dead on, and some want it a hair into the work. Ed, that is interesting. With my piranha, I need to put in a .024 correction to touch plate thickness as well. Works fine then. Unfortunately, the piranha forgets the correction every time it is turned off, but that isn't a biggy. NWA has a fix for that in their next update,
