The reason I asked these questions is that I currently use a Cravewright and I can pause the carve and come back later and restart it. As for the bits It will pause and ask for a new bit.

Re: Biting the bullet

Have couple more questions. How does the Shark handle bit changes in the middle of a carve, say going from a 30 deg V-bit to a 3/32 ball end mill? then continuing the carve. And what about restarting a carve after a shut down (power outage, got tired and took a break)? Does it pick up where it left ...

Re: Videos.....wow, not much help.

Re: 3d to aspire or not to aspire

Aspire has quite a few more features than VCarve. I currently have a Carvewright ( getting Shark next week) and I use Aspire to create all my patterns then move them over. Before I got Aspire I would start a drawing in Coreldraw, move it to Zbrush, save the Z map and then import it to the Carvewrigh...

Also I see that there is an on board USB interface, can you load files directly into the Shark or will I need a computer attached also?

Re: Desktop CNC lathe question

I would look at a ready made chuck, either a Stronghold or Nova. Both at self centering and had a varity of jaws depending on what you want to hold and how big it is. As for the motor, I would think that since this is a CNC lathe you won't need a lot of speed so a stepper would work better and allow...
