Re: Piranha and 3D Software?

The Piranha just runs g-code like the Shark, so it's not a compatibility issue. If you want the ability to carve 3-D objects, you'll need software to support it like Vectric's Cut 3D. You can either buy that separately or contact your Shark supplier about the availability of upgrades.

Re: Cut2D post-processor for Piranha

I believe the Piranha should be using the same post processors as the other Shark CNC models.

Very cool. Not too hard to accomplish, either. I had overlooked the weld/subtract tools' usefulness.

Re: Cutting offset during cut

I took another look at the setup--you're almost certainly right. Hats off to you for solving my problem. Thanks. It turns out that "centered on the table" does not mean "centered on the cutting area" because the router is mounted on the side of the gantry. The gantry's movement is constrained about ...

Re: Cutting offset during cut

Fixed the pictures. I didn't realize I could upload them as attachments, so I was using the first image hosting service I'd googled. No problem on my computer, by I saw the pop-ups on my tablet. All better now. I will double-check the limits. I didn't think I was hitting anything at all--when I ran ...

Cutting offset during cut

I was cutting 1/2" plywood with a 1/8" bit on my Shark today. I have two steps: 1) v-carve lettering and 2) 1/8" end mill drilling/cutting. When trading out bits, I didn't adjust the X/Y at all, though I did re-zero the Z, of course. In the middle of the end mill cut, the Y developed an offset. This...

Re: Post processors

Changing the G64 will only help if your job has a lot of small, right corners. It allows the controller to smooth out the movement somewhat, so the CNC maintains a higher rate of motion. On most 2D jobs, I'd imagine it won't yield a noticeable improvement to your times. (And, of course, it won't aff...

That looks fantastic. Would you mind posting the project file and/or instructions on how you made that?
