Re: Shark HD4 extended - how close to table should the bit b
Not sure I follow your question. The important part is that the bit is properly in the collet of the spindle. Good video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilGmFnOrPh8 FYI - the Collet that came installed in my spindle was a 6mm with the 1/4" and 1/8" collets in little blue and yellow boxes. 1/4" ...

Re: Help with Nextwave Chess Set
Steve, Just wondering, are you manually raising the bit after you zero it to the spoilboard? I finally got a chance to look at the file in Aspire. Your project height is 1.78 inches. Typically after zeroing with the plate the Z raises to about .625 on it's own, if you are zeroing close to the side o...

Re: Bit issues? Router shakes on X axis cut only
Daryl, I suspect your "X Worm nut" or whatever the technical name is might be loose. That would explain why it shakes going right but not left. Going left it is being pushed up against the bulkhead so no slop Going right it is being pulled away from the bulkhead and if loose would cause binding. Hop...

Re: Bit issues? Router shakes on X axis cut only
Daryl, I don't have the CNC Laptop with me at the moment - can share later this evening. Off the top of my head I recently ran a 1/4" Bosch upcut spiral bit at 9,000RPM and 125 IPM with .125 cut depth. through 2" of cypress which granted is a soft wood. the slab cutout was roughly 18" x 42" and I cu...

Re: Bit issues? Router shakes on X axis cut only
Daryl, I have been running mine (HD4 Extended) with various 1/4" EMs a lot faster and a lot deeper with various materials with no issues. If you run the program "cutting air" does it shake or bounce going left to right? Or only under load? Also, has the spindle been "trammed" to the spoil board? I d...

Re: Help with Nextwave Chess Set
Sorry, I haven't previously seen or done this project.
But two first quick troubleshooting questions are:
1) Are you using the dowel pins to align side two or just the jig?
2) Is the actual wood thickness the same as the project set up thickness?
